Ex Southern Water Boss Among Four Charged Over Alleged Plan to Manipulate Water Quality Tests The charges against four former executives at Southern Water, including its ex chief executive Matthew Wright, have been brought in connection with an alleged plan to manipulate water quality tests.

The scheme, which allegedly took place between 2012 and 2017, involved using "artificial no flow events" at wastewater treatment works to avoid paying nearly £45 million in financial penalties.

This is not the first time Southern Water has faced criticism for its environmental record.
